April Discussion – The Hound of the Baskervilles

Dear readers, this month we are talking about The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This book is available all the time via Winnipeg Public Library’s Overdrive account.

We are all listening to the public health experts and staying at home right now, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still meet up for our podcast book club! No better time to curl up with a classic and participate in some good bookish discussions. Here are some questions we are thinking about:

  1. Sherlock Holmes has been around since the 1880s – what makes him such a beloved and appealing character after all these years?
  2. Why is Dr.Watson the ideal friend and foil for Sherlock Holmes?
(What are some other great literary pairings?)
  3. Why are mysteries, and detective novels (and television shows and movies) so popular?

As always please comment below, on social media, or email us your answers and thoughts to wpl-podcast@winnipeg.ca
