January Discussion: The Nickel Boys

Hi everyone! This month we are discussing The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, and we’d love to hear what you have to say.

Often quoted in the book, Martin Luther King Jr had a dream, but in reality racism is still rampant. What actions do you take to be an anti-racist?

The protagonist of the book, Elwood Curtis, is described as “sturdy”. What one word would you use to describe yourself?

In this book, the students are punished in a shed called “The White House”. Aside from its colour, why else do you think it is called that?

We’d love to include your comments in our upcoming discussion. The episode will be available starting on Friday, February 4.
